Topes de Collantes, over 800 meters of the level of the sea is a place to stop to watch the existence of a prodigal nature that make that healthy and purified atmosphere of the levels of contamination of the modern life, the stress and the anxiety.

It is located 22 kilometers of the Trinidad city, at 77 km of Santa Clara, at 80 of Cienfuegos and 350 kilometers of Havana.

Those conditions determine the ecological characteristics of the region distinguished by the beauty of the flora and the fauna, with a high unique level of endemism, this attributes gave place to the creation of the Great Natural Parks Topes de Collantes.

Grottos holed in their almost vertical flaws, fence open with drainages undergrounds, narrow rivers of quick flow, beautiful cascades and jumps like the Caburní, National Monument, they ennoble the attractiveness of this worthy area of not omitting in their encounter with the nature of the island of the hospitality.

More than 15 species of pines, 12 of eucalyptuses and more than 100 ornamental plants they guarantee that the whole year there are flowers in Topes de Collantes. Variety of ferns, medicinal plants, wild orchids and butterflies supplement the beautiful environment.

Locust trees, cedar, mahogany, magnolia and teak, among other, they distinguish the place, fundamentally characterized by the prevalence of spineless, without the presence of some species dangerous for the man.

The complicated relief of the Escambray allows the existence of heights of different ranges, and small and fertile you intermountain valleys.

In this topography of varied vegetable mosaic is favored the named “Ecological Border” that increases the presence of birds like the parrot, the tocororo (national bird of Cuba), the Negrito, the sparrow hawk, the carpenter and the sijú.

They are also seven endemic species of amphibians, among those that stands out the frog “Co-lin”, called this way by the sound that they emits, it is not absent here the synergetic fauna, mainly represented by the deer white line, the hoggish jíbaro and the quail. Equally they inhabit jutías, mollusks, insects, spiders and bats. Around the area exist dogs and cats introduced by the man.

In the hillsides of the mountains the breeding of bovine, swinish and poultry livestock is fomented as source of foods for those that here live and her visitors.
